Chona A. Montesines-Sonido is an experienced real estate professional with over 25 years of industry experience.  She has been affiliated with Jerry Ilar Realty since 1989 and worked with the company until November 29, 2023, when the broker retired.  She is now associated with Ilar.Homes LLC.

In addition to her successful real estate career, Chona is a seasoned business owner who owns and operates multiple businesses, including the Hawaii Filipino Chronicle, Inc.  With the leadership and direction, the Chronicle has published numerous articles to assist small business owners in every step of the way, from starting up a company to enhancing profitability via effective management, finance, marketing, real estate investments, and taxation.

Chona's contributions and achievements have been recognized by various esteemed organizations.  She was hailed as the Woman Achiever in journalism by the Hawaii Filipino Woman's Club.  Additionally, she was acknowledged by the City Council, Senate, House of Representatives, former Governor Linda Lingle, former Mayor Mufi Hanneman, and the Kalayaan Philippines-Hawaii International for her exceptional contributions to journalism.  Chona was also a recent panel speaker on Ethnic Media, presented by the Honolulu Community Media Council.  She is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and was honored with the SBA Small Business Journalist of the Year Award for 2006 in Honolulu.

Chona has a Master's degree from Columbia University in New York City and has extensive experience in the finance and banking industry.  Furthermore, she was once a mortgage broker in the state of Hawaii.  Her vast knowledge, expertise, and experience make her an ideal partner for anyone looking to purchase, sell, or invest in Hawaii's real estate market.
